I’s Too Busy

Ahh Labour Day Long weekend is upon us. Which means only one thing. Crazy time is looming upon us with the kids going back to school, and the “second wave” that may or may not happen, if you have gone on vacation the whole scramble on coming back.

It’s easy to get caught up on all of these things and forget about yourself. So, what do you do? How can you stay this madness? Well I have some advice for you to keep your head from not spinning while you are running around like a madman. These three tips I have actually taken by an ex US Navy SEAL Commander turned author Jocko Willink who was a part of tank unit Bruiser in the Iraq war (one of the highest decorated command in that war) from his book “Extreme Ownership: How US Navy Seals Lead and Win”. He implemented these following tactics during his tour in Iraq and I do to as well during my day. They work like a charm!

Plan your day.
I have said this before on one of my John’s Daily Bites, and I will say it again. Plan out your day. Write down the things you need to get done and the times that they must be done. Then write down the things you want to do and fill in the times in your calendar that you can do these things. Just make sure you give yourself enough time between these tasks so you can go and get them done.

Stick to it.
Now just because you write it down in your day planner or online calendar doesn’t mean that you are going to stick to it. This is where your discipline has to come in. You can do it, just stay focused. I, myself, struggle with this on a daily basis, and if you see my schedule you might want to hide in a hole. The way I do it is once I have my plan ready and the things, I want to accomplish I simply look at my next task. I always ask myself what’s next on my menu? Then it’s just focus on that task until it’s done, and the time is over.

Breathe and move.
This is such a concept which most people almost always forget. When we get stressed one of the first thing we forget to do is breathe. When we stop breathing, we stop moving. What I mean by this is simple, if you are feeling overwhelmed check to see if your breathing if you have stop breathing then take a deep inhale then exhale and you’ll see that moving will feel easier, your task will become simpler. So, always remember to breathe and move. One of the busiest times of the year for most people almost always has the simplest solutions. Therefore, I have made these three tips nice and simple. So, always remember that when you feel overwhelmed and “too Busy” keep it simple.

Plan, Execute, Breathe and move.
