Dog Days

Now that the long summer is waning to its end and most of are feeling it’s the pull of the long days, hot and humid days and this will try to force us into our homes and crank up the air conditioner to super chill and on full power.

It’s funny that just a few months ago we were stuck in our homes because of a virus, and now we are still stuck in our homes because mother nature is simply not cooperating with us. But don’t fret, I have a solution for you all. It is: get out, go and enjoy yourselves in the great outdoors. This blog post will help you find that escape for you.

Go for a picnic.
Hop in the car, pack the family, pack a picnic basket. Yes, I said it…a picnic basket, invite friends and family member and spend the day at a park 4 hours away. Bring gloves, soccer balls, bats, lawn bowling balls, anything that will get you active and have some friendly competition that will bring some fun and connection between you, your friends, and your family.

Go camping by a lake.
Here in Ontario, we have over a thousand freshwater lakes. The most in any province in the whole world. And some of the most beautiful scenery to boot. I am guilty of not taking advantage of this myself, but I always enjoy the great outdoors, regardless. It is easy to plan this out, just get a tent, a couple of fishing rods, something to light a fire and go for the weekend to the middle of a park and enjoy your time out in the great outdoors. Just make sure that the park rangers know where you are for your own safety and you could always invite them for dinner and a story, they usually have some really good ones.

Stay hydrated.
This is a no brainer. No matter where you are, the city, the country, the wilderness. You need to have water and stay hydrated throughout the day. Dehydration has no symptoms until its too late so always have 3 to 4 liters of water per day that you are out and about. I know this seems excessive, but this is the normal amount of water that we are supposed to be consuming. With the heat and humidity, it’s actually supposed to be more. But most people have a problem with just drinking 3 Liters per day. So, just get it up to 3 Liters a day and you’re good to go.

Now that the dog days of summer are here and the summer is coming to it’s end, the tips above should help bring some sanity in a year that has been anything but sane or normal. So, get out there and enjoy yourself. You deserve it.
